I will be hosting a new series on my personal blog on every Friday. The post will highlight the concluding weeks activities highlighting any events through text, images and video. I hope you enjoy and encourage you to subscribe via RSS and/or Email.

Earlier this week I was lucky enough to travel with GenJuice to Boston for a meet up at WorkBar Boston, a trendy co-working space. This was a trip filled with new experiences. First and foremost, this was the first time I met the GenJuice team in person. While working virtually over the past 6 weeks made it feel as if I had known Arielle Patrice Scott, Danielle Leslie and Virgilia Singh for years, finally meeting these three young entrepreneurs was inspiring.

The trip was a great success and exposed me to a new level of networking. Even though we were only in Boston for less than 24 hours, the team and myself were able to connect and interview with an astounding number of influential people. I was especially excited to be able to meet with and interview Dan Schawbel of Millennial Branding LLC. Watch the video below for expert advice on personal branding:

Another great contact I was able to meet with in Boston was Morgan First of “The Second Glass”. An amazing woman, well-known networker and driven entrepreneur, Morgan and her partner, Tyler Balliet, have created an organization known for providing unpretentious wine information to the average consumer through weekly emails, events and a mobile application. Their goal is “not to critique wine but explain the world of wine in a down-to-earth and humorous tone. It is [their] firm belief that good wine is not just for the elite. Good wine, like good food is available to everyone.”

The Second Glass is a company to follow in the coming months with some very unique services being released in the near future. Furthermore, their wine tasting events are known as the best way to learn and retain knowledge on wine varietals. Follow @Morgan1st for updates and subscribe to the “Wine of the Weekend” newsletter for great tips for the casual drinker.

Finally, after a long day, the GenJuice team and myself attended a DartBoston event at the brand new SCVNGR building in Cambridge, MA. SCVNGR is a young startup with large ambitions. They have developed and are continuously improving on a social game. The playing field is the real world! “To make this happen, [they’ve] designed an incredibly powerful (and easy to use) platform that means that whether you’re an individual player, a local store, a museum, a historic monument, a restaurant or anything in between, you can participate in building SCVNGR with [them].”

The DartBoston event highlighted Peekaboo Mobile, a young startup, pitching their business to Highland Capital Partners – a venture capital firm. This was my first time attending a VC pitch, and I learned quite a bit. Some of the questions posed by the potential investors really resonated with my past experience as an MB107 coach at Skidmore College (see link below for program details). Watch the following video for a brief look at the GenJuice Boston event as well as a short pitch for Peekaboo Mobile by co-founders Michael Fruzzetti and Ben Dolgoff. I wish them the best of luck!
